Silver Fleur De Lis Necklace - handmade custom jewelry
Timeless, elegant, and weathered. This beautiful little pendant is sure to please.
The fleur de lis has had multiple meanings throughout the years. It is a stylized lily, made of three petals which are connected near their bases. Traditionally, the symbol has represented French royalty. The Roman Catholic Church ascribed the lily as the special emblem of the Virgin Mary. Due to its three "petals," the fleur de lis has also been used to represent the Holy Trinity. Military units, including divisions of the United States Army, have used the symbol's resemblance to a spearhead to identify martial power and strength. Even in modern times, this symbol is said to signify perfection, light, and life.
Each piece is handmade from fine silver, and hangs from an 18 inch sterling silver box chain.
Not familiar with fine silver? Here are the facts:
Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling silver.
Fine silver is more valuable than sterling.
Due to being 99.9% pure silver, these pieces will not tarnish nearly as quickly as sterling.
This pendant was handmade in my studio. It was fired in a kiln at over 1500 degrees before being filed, polished, patinated, and polished again. I have hand finished this piece by leaving an antiqued finish on the lower spots, and spot polishing the highlights. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece with gorgeous dimension.
A perfect gift for someone special in your life! And don't worry - gifts for yourself are well deserved too!
Don't forget to add a polishing cloth to keep your treasure perfect. I recommend only lightly buffing the raised portions of your pendant, as to not disturb the intentional lowlights.
